25.06.08 -
We actually got together in a room with instruments to finish writing this song on the weekend, and it went pretty well. A short & sweet video diary entry ensued.
And here it is:

16.06.08 - Oddness
I just had the strangest dream - I was being nuzzled by a chicken. That and the dream. Ho ho ho!
I've actually had this video update cut for a while, but we've been staying at the nearly-in-laws' house, and their DSL connection is a mite crawlier than ours, and kept dropping out. I finally got it uploaded this morning, then realised it was to the wrong youtube account, so I deleted it, uploaded to the correct one, and here it is:
This is a purely Curtis and Nick affair, as we two have been doing the bulk of the filmed work on this tune, but we're all getting together this weekend to have a bit of a loud-one, so you'll get to see some actual playing of instruments soon.
Huzzah!

01.05.08 - The sound of muzak
I'm sure we mentioned somewhere that we were going to start being a bit more communicative in the future. However, as anyone who is familiar with our normal work pace (or lack thereof!), there's absolutely nothing out of the unusual occurring in the world of T3E.
Nothing to see here, move along now...
Actually, that's not strictly true. At least the nothing-to-see-here bit anyway. Stuff has been happening, just at its usual "when-we-get-a-chance" rate.
In our defence, all of T3E travelled up to Sydney to witness Porcupine Tree playing at the Enmore Theatre last weekend. And what a mighty fine show it was too! The mix was particularly good, possibly the best I've heard for a live show - not ear-bleedingly loud, and yet everything wonderfully balanced and clean. PT's use of sequenced accompaniment also reinvigorated hope that we could do the same to fill in the gaps in our live material, which would be a great help as we always struggled to pull off some of the instrumentation tricks from the first CD with only the four of us.
T3E-music-wise, things have been a little bit quiet for a few weeks, mainly due to the PT gig, and our ever-clashing schedules. However I have still had enough spare time to write a good chunk of a new song with Nick, which has the somewhat dubious distinction of being a demo that I gave to Nick with my singing on it. To my relief, Nick promptly replaced my vocals with his, which also gave me a bit more perspective on the tune as I had been umm-ing and ahh-ing about the melody for a while.
Another thing that's worth pointing out for this new album, it's certainly shaping up to be a much rowdier collection of songs this time round. We actually only have one or two laid-back tunes on the go at the moment. During the writing of the first album we always intended for it to be heavy. Or at least heavy-ish. It just sorta evolved to be more Pink Floyd than Dream Theater. Not that we're not proud of what the CD was (which we most definitely are!), but this time around we're looking to shift the balance back towards the heavier stuff. Less mellotron choirs, more squarewave-ified guitars.
Anyhoo, that's probably enough of my rambling for a bit. I do belive Nick has fallen asleep at his video-editing software package, so I'm off to poke him a bit with a blunt chicken to wake him up...

Righto - let's get this ball rolling. We're going to document the making of this second album on a continuous basis, thanks to the wonders of technology. We've been into writing & recording demo versions of the new tracks so far, which is where our first installment picks up:
